It’s fall now. A good time to read fairy tales. This collage has layers of photos I took, the spine from a very old book of Grimm’s fairy tales, paint, glitter, and a hand marbled hang tag. Available as a print in my Etsy shop.

Poetry is the lifeblood of what I do, but it really gets expanded with the visual treatment of applying it to collage. I work exclusively in real materials (paint, feathers, leaves, etc.) and make very few alterations to it digitally. I do, however, sometimes work with a graphic artist when blowing up these images to make very large pigment prints. Mostly to make color enhancements. It’s been a ridiculously hot and drawn out summer in Los Angeles. It’s October and I hope we are at last making a turn into fall. This is a summer collage I did a few months ago, in this batch of collages that are available as prints in my Etsy shop.

I’m really fascinated with various methods of divination, and especially the tarot right now. Maybe we can’t predict or control the future for all its mutability, but we can learn to read the energies and tendencies present in ourselves and in situations. Something larger certainly connects us all and makes the currents move and life flow and keep flowing, whatever you want to call it. God, or something else. The main text in this piece, like the collage I posted yesterday, was extracted from some writing I did in Santa Fe, before I moved here. The original writing was about love and it actually had some (artistically)...

Love Everything

I’ve just posted a big group of new collages in my Etsy shop. I’ve made them available as prints in two sizes. These collages were made since moving back to Los Angeles but they contain pieces of the lives I’ve lived in other places before getting here.  They feel like a summation of something unspoken for me. They feel like the summation of something good, even though it hasn’t been easy getting here. This one contains a fragment of text from some writing I did in Santa Fe – a fictional love story that I was never able to bring to a satisfying conclusion. I’ve been thinking about love a lot, and the love story. Recently I saw The Fault in Our Stars, the movie adaptation of a book about the love story of a 16 year old cancer patient and a 17 year old amputee. I cried and cried while watching this movie. Not just because of the death bits but also...
